Dear community

Castlemaine family, Quince, Ashay and Augie (3) Frances welcomed their second baby, Willowyn Joy, in June 2025.

In the time when they had expected to be enjoying the newborn bubble, Willowyn has been rushed to ICU for breathing support multiple times. Each time returning home without answers about why this is happening. In the most recent episode, Willowyn has not been able to come off the breathing support. Whilst on trial of different medications they have also been under many medical tests, hoping doctors can find some answers about what’s happening.

Quince and Ashay have been back and forth from Melbourne, staying in the Ronald McDonald House whilst also trying to keep a regular routine for Augie back home in kinder.

Along with this, they are also caring for Ashay’s mum, Susan who is also in hospital recovering from emergency open heart surgery a month ago. As you can imagine, this family are stressed, stretched, exhausted- beyond belief.

We are reaching out to their wider community to support this family as they pause regular life and just manage to get through each day talking to medical team with an uncertain future.

Please help us with any amount of donation you can afford to help this local family get through this incredibly rough time.

Financial support will be used to fund:

– medical costs over the past month and ongoing (x rays, MRI, ambulance bills etc)

– home support (meals, cleaning etc)

– emotional support and respite

– Ashay taking time off work to care

– Travel and other unforeseen costs of Willowyn receiving care in Melbourne

– support for Ashay’s mum who is recovering from emergency open heart surgery

Thank you so much for supporting the Frances family stay a float while they go through this unthinkable time. Any extra funds not needed by the family will be donated to the Royal Children’s Hospital as they are feeling so appreciative of the care there.

edit 8/07/25 I have increased the target to reflect the increased financial stress of ambulance bills for 3 x emergency trips to Melbourne which are unfortunately and confusingly not covered.
